GNAS, through its Regions and Counties, operate the Community Leader Award in Archery certificate for the Central Council for Physical Recreation. This is the first level certificate in the Sport of Archery and is a certificate of safe participation. It is open to all, no previous knowledge is required and it is particularly useful for Youth Leaders, Sports Teachers and staff at activity centres. The minimum age for a Leader is 17. It is recognised Nationally as the minimum standard required to conduct archery sessions. Usually held by non-members of GNAS who are involved in teaching archery. Certificates are issued by GNAS Central Office after successful examination. Certificates are current for two years after which they are subject to review for renewal. A refresher course may be called for before certificates are renewed for a further two year period. The Community Leader: • Teaches beginners archery. • Advises on suitable equipment for beginners. • Has completed an authorised training course and satisfied the Society's Examiners on their competence to lead archery sessions.
